Not every generation of advertising gets a leader like Josh Nichol—fearless, generous, larger than life.
But every generation deserves one.
For more than 40 years, Josh Nichol made a lasting impression on clients and colleagues alike in some of San Francisco’s top advertising agencies. He passed away at the height of his career, as CEO of H&L Partners, where he helped create a collaborative culture, a talented team, and a family environment.
Josh was an industry icon, but he cared more about seeing others succeed. So the Josh Nichol Memorial Scholarship was established in his name to celebrate excellence, reward curiosity, and propel the next generation of leaders in advertising and marketing.

This scholarship is open to eligible graduating high school seniors from the Oakland Unified School District planning to attend a fully accredited community college, four-year college/university, or a vocational/technical training program.
