As our Sr. HR Generalist, you’ll guide the employee journey from recruitment through
onboarding, benefits management, and beyond. Your role will be key in maintaining
smooth operations and shaping our agency culture where employees can excel. You’ll
collaborate with leadership to drive initiatives that fuel organizational success.
This is a hybrid role, with both office-based work at the H/L Oakland office and remote
work.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- People Operations Leader: Own the entire employee life cycle, from recruitment through onboarding, and ensure smooth offboarding experiences that reflect our culture
- HR Tech Expert: Take charge of our HRIS, optimizing processes and ensuring flawless data integrity while keeping everything running smoothly
- Compliance Champion: Keep us ahead of the game by managing compliance reporting and ensuring our Employee Handbook remains in sync with ever-evolving regulations
- L&D Visionary: Lead the way in creating innovative training and development programs that inspire growth, empower employees, and fuel their success
- Benefits Advisor: Oversee all aspects of employee benefits—from health insurance to retirement plans and wellness programs—ensuring our people are well cared for
- Confidentiality Guardian: Handle sensitive employee information with care, always maintaining discretion
- Strategic Partner: Work closely with leadership to cultivate a high-performance culture that drives organizational success and builds a strong sense of belonging

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Experience: 8+ years of HR experience, with a strong focus on generalist functions that cover the full employee life cycle
- Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in HRIS systems (e.g., UKG, UltiPro, ADP, etc.), with a knack for optimizing processes and troubleshooting issues
- Compliance Knowledge: In-depth understanding of federal and multi-state employment laws and regulations
- HR Expertise: Strong skills in recruitment, benefits administration, compliance, and performance management
- Office Pro: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential, with a particular emphasis on Excel for creating reports
- Discretion & Integrity: Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with the highest level of professionalism and care

For SF Bay Area / CA-based: H/L offers a projected salary range for a position as an
estimate of what the company believes is a reasonable pay scale. The salary range for
this position is expected to be between $120,000 and $135,000 per year. The actual
salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on various factors, including the
job’s scope and responsibilities, the candidate’s qualifications, budget availability,
internal pay equity, geographic location, and external market pay rates for similar
positions. These factors will determine the final compensation, which may vary within
the stated range.
