You are an Editor who knows Premiere Pro, After Effects, and DaVinci Resolve like the back of your hand. You live to make the cut better. And you’re happy cutting broadcast spots as well as digital content, in both short and long form. You embrace the challenge of telling a good story, can mentor a junior editor, and welcome the challenge of leading the day-to-day activities of our busy editorial studio. This is a hybrid role, with both office-based work at the H/L Oakland office and remote work.

What you’ll do:

  • Embrace the challenge of working with Creative teams to provide consistently top-quality broadcast and social content
  • Attend initial project meetings to provide creative and technical editorial input on all scripts and throughout the postproduction process, from offline through conform.
  • Organize all footage for use in videos and for use on the internal edit suite
  • Load-in and ingest footage from shoots
  • Screen cuts with the producer and the Creative team throughout the approval
  • Handle prep for color grading and final mix
  • Work with Creative teams during color grading and final mix sessions when appropriate
  • Manage deliverables: broadcast assets and conversions to other platforms
  • Do basic sound design and motion graphics.
  • Maintain all editing equipment and troubleshoot
  • Archive projects and maintain the organization of the

About you:

  • Solid technical understanding of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Premier Pro, After Effects, Media Encoder, Illustrator, and Photoshop, as well as PluralEyes and DaVinci Resolve.
  • Familiarity with various camera post workflows, including but not limited to RED, Arri, Canon, and Sony.
  • Solid knowledge of After Effects. Required skills include titling, motion design, track mattes, vector animation, some roto/scene cleanup, and direct-linking from Premiere Pro to After Effects.
  • Proficiency in file
  • Experience in meeting a variety of technical specifications for broadcast, digital, and nontraditional delivery.
  • Familiarity with color correction.
  • Basic capabilities in, and a willingness to learn, sound design and audio finishing using Adobe Audition, Pro Tools, and the like.
  • Ability to be organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with a can-do Must be adept at multitasking.

For SF Bay Area / CA based: H/L offers a projected salary range for a position as an estimate of what the company believes is a reasonable pay scale. The salary range for this position is expected to be between $100,000 and $130,000 per year. The actual salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on various factors, including the job’s scope and responsibilities, the candidate’s qualifications, budget availability, internal pay equity, geographic location, and external market pay rates for similar positions. These factors will determine the final compensation, which may vary within the stated range.
